Mat Tuora

Principal Acoustic Consultant

Mat joined the Acoustics team at Create in 2021 as a Senior Acoustic Consultant. He has since progressed to his current role of Principal Acoustic Consultant. Prior to Create, Mat was responsible for reverberation assessments and pre-completion testing on smaller projects, working for a dedicated acoustic consultancy that operated throughout the UK. He also supported a number of expert witnesses with report writing.

Mat often goes above and beyond to achieve clients’ aspirations and objectives. He has provided our team with a range of new skills that have allowed the team to explore new opportunities and take on increasingly more acoustically complex projects.

Mat is highly efficient in the use of a variety of noise modelling software (CadnaA, CATT-Acoustic) and is capable of utilising specialist equipment (Norsonic, AVA) to complete critical field work. He is adept at carrying out detailed environmental assessments, acoustic modelling and multistage building acoustic design. Mat places an emphasis on innovative acoustic materials and techniques to solve every day acoustic problems. He is well-known for his ability to think outside of the box. His approach has allowed him to deliver realistic, functional acoustic designs for a variety of spaces, ultimately providing our clients’ with practical, cost-effective solutions.

An enthusiastic and innovative acoustician, Mat is a proactive Member of the Institute of Acoustics (IoA) and Association of Noise Consultants (ANC). He sits on the ANC Sustainability Committee and contributes to technical matters for the Institute of Acoustics.

Outside of work, Mat can be found tinkering away in his garage on various personal projects or learning a new groove on his guitars.
