Mechanical Building Services Engineer (Level 1-3, Senior roles*)

To support the ongoing expansion of our MEP Building Services team, we are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Mechanical Building Services Engineers of all levels to join our dynamic team.

The successful candidates will get the opportunity to work on projects across the UK with like-minded individuals. Your new role, what’s involved?

  • Design, manage and deliver full mechanical design on a wide range of projects.
  • Liaise with statutory authorities in all matters affecting their incoming services to buildings.
  • Overseeing and supervising the installation of mechanical building systems.
  • Preparing high quality information including technical specification, designs, drawings, schedules, reports.
  • Liaising closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, builders, architects and surveyors, etc.
  • Preparing budget costs for client consideration and drawing up tender documentation.
  • Attending sites to undertake surveys and provide relevant reports.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • A relevant (BEng, MEng, etc.) or equivalent degree in Building Services Engineering or a related field.
  • Relevant and proven experience in a similar consultancy role.
  • An understanding and ability to implement the principles of CDM throughout your design work.
  • An understanding of RIBA work stages and the technical requirements of each stage.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire confidence, both in your peers and clients.
  • Excellent numerical proficiency with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, an ability to analyse and sort complex data.
  • Experience with relevant or specialist design software such as IES VE, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to adapt your writing to our requirements. This includes the production of presentations, reports, letters and marketing material for both internal and external use.

  • You have a proven ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • You have a working knowledge of social and digital media channels with a view to using these to promote not only your work but also the business as a whole.
  • You are a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (MCIBSE), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) or equivalents.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Level 1 – Entry-level position, typically for graduates or those who have been in the role or similar for under 2 years.

Level 2 – 2-3 years’ experience in the role or similar, with technical expertise and an ability to manage small projects, coordinate with clients and support other team members.

Level 3 – 3 or more years’ experience in the role or similar, with clearly recognisable technical expertise, an ability to lead multiple projects, coordinate with clients and support other team members.

Senior – Substantial experience in the role, with recognised technical expertise, the ability to lead multiple large projects, coordinate with clients, support and develop other team members and secure future workstreams/projects for the discipline.
